Reminiscing About Old Web Comics

I found all the old Mall Monkeys comics just now. Unfortunately, I don’t think they’re in any kind of decent order. I learned about it on IRC and it was the second web comic I had ever seen. First one was Pokey The Penguin.

That was pretty much the whole extent of my web comic experience until XKCD earlier this year.
Anyway, talk freely amongst yourselves.

I still miss Boy Meets Boy. It was my first webcomic and I’m still following the author/artist, 2 webcomics later.

I miss the first three years of Sluggy Freelance. Almost everything after The Evil storyline has been crap. Especially that interminable “Bun-Bun in Spacetime” monstrosity.

during the presidential primary, I stopped reading Sinfest. I miss it sometimes, but not enough to try going back.

I miss my fond memories of reading MegaTokyo when it was funny, before it became… not funny.

I also mourn the loss of SexyLosers.

Damn, you nailed all of mine.

Sinfest was great, for a while.

Megatokyo was pretty good until it went full weeaboo

And Sexylosers was genius NSFW fapping at the speed of light - jizz hits roomate in the face LOLOLOLOLOL

ROFL.

I miss having new episodes of A Miracle of Science. Although I’m glad that they stopped because they wrapped up the story, not because they lost interest or dropped dead.

Dr. Fun was the granddaddy of them all. Perfect for an old AV geek like me.

He still updates pretty randomly (although it does seem to be about every two months, lately). The most recent update was on Sept. 27, the previous, August 20.

Similarly ‘theoretically alive, yet updated only sporadically’ is Gone With the Blastwave, which, like SL, last updated in September, and March before that. He’s not expecting to update again until sometime next year.

Every once in a while I check on Absurd Notions, just in case there’s been an update. I think the last update was 2005 or so.

You’re probably aware of it, but the people who did A Miracle of Science are currently working on Afterlife Blues.

Yes, I know about it.

Not quite a web comic, but I was surprised last week to find that Weebl and Bob is still going. I thought they went the way of Hampster Dance.
