Remote codes for RCA TV

Has anyone made an ATT U-Verse remote work with an RCA plasma TV 42PA30RQ?
The Future Mrs. Plant now has four remotes to juggle around.

AT&T U-Verse Setup Codes

or if that doesn’t work,

“enter 922. Hold play as the remote cycles through various codes. When your TV turns off, push enter.”–from eHow.

Been there, done that, as they say. No joy.

Thanks.

a Sony rm-vl600 is a 8 device preprogrammed and learning remote. if it doesn’t have the codes already in it (i didn’t look for your RCA) you can teach it codes from any remote.

But then TFMP still has…I’ve lost count…remotes to juggle. There’s always some damn button on the U-Verse or my DVR that isn’t duplicated on universals.

But then U-Verse and UniVERSal…hmmmm.

Time to get a Harmony remote.

it substitutes for up to 8 remotes, either preprogramed codes or taught by you (you aim the remotes at each other and it learns from the other one). you could run your air conditioner with it if you taught it the codes and your air conditioner ran with a remote.

if using it as a learning remote you can assign a unused button for any function .

i have in using a DVD/DVR not had enough buttons to use for all its function of tuning and record/play/editing. i use the button labeled DVD to give it the learned functions of a DVD player, i use the button labeled SAT to give it the learned functions of a DVR.

nice is that this device is $25 (USA). you might have to remember a few buttons you assign your self (e.g. i use the button labeled SLEEP for the ‘signal strength’ for controlling the digital tv tuning). it has 8 buttons to select the device and 39 well marked and laid out buttons that are either preprogrammed or taught by you.

I risked $20 and ordered the Sony.

Thanks, all.

If that doesn’t work out definitely go for the Logitech Harmony - they are worth every penny (I have 3, one for each room with a TV). I would stick with the cheaper ones though, they get used so much because they are the only remote you need, they only last me a year or two on my living room TV. But I have never had to learn anything for them no matter how esoteric the device. The only issues I have are on TV without one button per input (ie scrolls through HDMI1, HDMI2, Component, etc), sometimes the TV doesn’t get all the button presses. (Since you tell it, I want to watch tv, instead of pressing input 5 times yourself). Solves reasonable well by setting the first soft button to be “next input” on that TV so I can change it myself if I need to.

I owe you a beer, John. So far, it works on everything except Mrs. Plant.
But then, the divorce is final, now.
