Removing a Microhood from 1985-HELP!

We bought a new microhood and now cannot for the life of us figure out how to remove the old one!

It is a 1985 Quazar model that I believe is mounted on metal brackets. However, we have removed all visible screws and tried moving it every which way to no avail…the thing is not budging.

What is the trick? Any photos out there to help me. Google is not being a very good friend and keeps sending me to joke sites about rebooting my microwave and reformatting my kitchen. :smack:

My husband was also delighted to find a dead mouse in the filter–which has probably been there for all of 5 YEARS. Puke-face smile needed…

Thanks!

Um… what’s a microhood?

I had to do this about a month ago, and you are right there is no help on the internet. I can’t really help because we just unscrewed every screw we could find until we got the right one. It is a disgusting job. And you definately need two people because the microhood (I’m assuming that is what you mean) is pretty heavy. I’m pretty sure that there were two long screws at the very top on either side of the hood. YMMV, unfortunately.

However putting the new one in is pretty easy.

Sorry I can’t be much help.

By microhood, I assumed you meant microwave hood…

Still getting the hang of this,

Microwave hood?

It sounds like you are talking about the kind of ventilation/filtering hood found over stoves and ranges. Do you mean that you can get one built into the bottom of a microvave oven?
