Removing Branding on Laptop?

From what I’ve heard and read, HDMI cables are essentially all the same. At extremely long lengths (like 100+ feet) you may get some degradation of signal, but no more than any other type of cable. You can get them as short as 1 foot if you want.

ETA: an advantage of HDMI is it also carries audio, so no need for a separate connection for sound.

What does mini displayport outs mean?
So that means i have to get an hdmi cable then right if i want to connect laptop to monitor? Also would 6 feet be enough or maybe just get 10 or 15 feet just in case? Thing is the monitor and laptop will be connected very close to one another.

Mini DisplayPort is just a different A/V output. IIRC it was developed by Apple for use in their machines, but they license it for free so it appears in some PC machines as well.

Okay would i have an issue then connecting to a monitor with 1920x1200 resolution then via hdmi or the mini display port? Reason i ask is if i can’t connect the sager laptop to an external monitor thats 1920x1200 resolution i will have a big issue with the laptop as i need that type of resolution

HP LA2405wg was the monitor i used thats 1920x1200. Would my sager laptop be compatible with this via hdmi? Im confused what is mini display port, is that another cable i could buy?

The current version of HDMI can handle resolutions up to 4096x2160 (at 30fps for 1.4, 60fps for 2.0).

It doesn’t look like your monitor has HDMI so you would need to get an adaptor. Your monitor does have a DiplayPort input, so you would need a Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable. All of these cables are about the same price and there isn’t really much difference between them as far as performance goes, AFAIK.

I bought a made-to-order laptop and the case didn’t have the logo; it was a new model and the store hadn’t received them yet. I didn’t care, but my Idjit Boss saw the brand-new laptop and exclaimed “oh my god, your laptop is so OLD!”

I got a Sex Pistols Union Jack skin for it :stuck_out_tongue:

The thing is this was the monitor i bought a year ago and it was new and used it with my old asus laptop.

I connected it to my asus u45jc-a1 with a vga cable. They also came with dvi but my asus didn’t have a dvi slot. But can you tell me if this came with an HDMI? Also when buying a new monitor, do almost all monitors come with dvi cable, vga cable and hdmi cable? I don’t have this monitor anymore but i recalled when i got it, it came with 1 vga cable and 2 Dvi cables. But do monitors that are to be used with hdmi… do they generally supply you with one or you have to buy one yourself?
So monitors that only use dvi or hdmi… they supply dvi and hdmi cable or just dvi?
So since my new sager laptop will have hdmi, mini display and those usb 3.0s… i wont get the usb to dvi adapter if its 50 dollar whereas another option is less and basically the same thing. Someone said if i get this option it cost much more.
So basically assuming the new monitor only has DVI, then my options are

  1. HDMI to DVI Adapter

  2. Mini display port to DVI Adapter
But almost all monitors should have more than 1 option right? Thus if it has DVI, it must have either VGA as well or HDMI? And some might have all 3?

But if the monitor has DVI and VGA then its basically

  1. HDMI to DVI Adapter

  2. HDMI to VGA Adapter

  3. Mini display port to DVI Adapter

  4. Mini display port to VGA Adapter
    Is that correct?

Just put some black duct tape over the logos like they do on TV.

Most monitors tend to only come with VGA or DVI cables, if any.

That is correct. If price is an issue, HDMI cables and adapters are generally the cheapest option, IME.

HDMI 2.0 isn’t really a “current” version, it’s a new version that’s JUST NOW starting to appear on the market. Some laptops and monitors released this fall have HDMI 2.0, but not all.

I do this with lots of my electronic chattels. My Kindle e-reader, for instance, is re-branded as a “Looking Glass,” and my PC, which used to be a Dell, is a “Saltarello.”
