The Clearcoat on my Jeep Cherokee is chiping-off. Whats the best way to remove it and restore the paint finish?
You need experience with a orbital sander/polisher and a hard compound that can cut the clear coat. You destroy the actual paint to some degree.
In areas where you are inconsistent, you’ll have foggy swirl marks – bad ones.
In almost all cases, your results will look worse than your current paint.
I did have the hood of my wife’s Jetta reglossed/coated. I forget the cost, but our body shop did it when it was in for some other repair.
Looks deep, consistent and new.
