Removing "description" from ID3 tags

I have a Sony Ericsson w800i phone that runs the Sony Walkman software. Good phone, but the Walkman software is not great.

One of its dafter habits is to make the artist name in the menu default to the “description” tag in the MP3 file, if one is present. This means that podcasts I put on the phone are all over the shop, since they always have a long description tag.

I haven’t yet been able to find software with which I can delete the description tag to stop the Walkman software acting the maggot - iTunes doesn’t help - it just has “Show Description”, separate from the editing part - and nor have any of the open source ID3 editors I’ve downloaded.

Anyone know of something that will allow me to edit/delete this tag? Is it even an ID3 tag, or is it something else - which would assist my searching for it on Google?

Tag and rename works well for this sort of thing. Although I did not see a specific tag labeled description. There was one labeled comment.
