Any recommendations for removing duct tape glue from a rug? The tape was there for some time, tacking down the edge. When it was pulled off, some of the glue was left behind. The rug is a Berber, pure wool, but of course dyed.
Assuming you like the rug? Using cotton balls or swabs soaked in lemon or baby oil, dab the oil into the tape residue. Once the residue’s soaked through w/ the oil, you should bee able to start scraping it up w/ a fingernail. Keep dabbing the oil in, resisting the urge to rub the fibers together to spread the oil among them; this will mostly spread the residue instead and is bad.
(This is a lot like using peanut butter to get gum out of hair, if you’ve ever had to do that it will feel familiar.)
Once you’re satisfied w/ the results sprinkle baking powder on the oily area if it’s discolored the rug. Let it rest a few days and vacuum it up, repeat as necessary.
Good luck!
Goo Gone. That even got roofing asphalt out of berber carpeting for me once.
