Rendition

I watched this film last night and it isn’t bad at all.

One thing that puzzled me:

The guy being tortured was told that “Rashid” had made calls to his mobile phone but he knew nothing about them.

How and why or even if the calls existed was not explained, or did I miss something?

The prof. gets a blank call when he’s on the way to the airport after the conference. I’m guessing he changed his number recently and hence the new number did belong earlier to a genuine terrorist.

We have the DVD to be seen today or tomorrow, so I can get back here after that. Haven’t read anything above here at this point. Just reacting to the title of the thread.

I thought it was simpler than that - that it was just a wrong number - and it was just an unfortunate coincidence that el-Ibrahimi was of Arabic origin.

It was a good movie, though I did think that the ambiguities it pondered with did resolve into a moralistic stance towards the end, which weakened it slightly. But ever since seeing Walk the Line I have loved Reese Witherspoon with a passion.

They show only one call on screen, but I’m assuming that the earlier calls, referred to in the interrogations, were really made.
