I note with glee that this is the very same harridan who was challenged by a returning Iraq war veteran in a presumed “safe” Republican district. A veteran who ran largely (according to reports/distortions) on a platform of “Bush Bites It!” and came within a whisker of carrying this “safe” seat.
In the words of St. Robert of Hibbing: “Its a hard rain’s gonna fall”.
He better, considering it was Murtha who helped Cheney get some street cred with the Armed Forces back during the Bush (Sr.) Administration.
I have no doubts that this is the only thing preventing Cheney from gleefully slinging mud at Murtha now.
Yesterday I saw a short clip on some news show in which Rep Murtha said that Schmidt had sent him a letter of apology and that he accepted it. That’s completely unfair! She calls him a coward on the floor of the House with the cameras rolling, but she apologizes privately??!!
Just to provide a reference for the bit I mentioned before (about the Al Franken Show quoting from her first speech as a member of the House):
If he can get past Brown in the primaries Hackett’s painted a big ol’ target on Mike DeWine next year, too.

Her colleagues obviously stopped lending her their shoes. Probably had to leave 'em on the back porch for days to get the smell of Schmidt out of 'em.
