At some point during the winter, I hit a downspout with my snow blower. The impact location is seriously constricted to less than 50% its normal width, and backs up in heavy rain. How can I pull it out? I’ve thought of perhaps using a toggle bolt, then patching the hole . . . or crazy-gluing something to the area, and simply pulling it.
Assuming it’s aluminum, use a self-tapping screw. Screw it in three quarters of the way and then pull. You could easily leave it in or pull it out and caulk the little hole.
Remove the downspout. Insert a piece of wood into the downspout. Screw through the downspout at the restriction into the wood. Now pull on the crew to “inflate” the downspout. Remove screw. Remove wood. Caulk hole. Replace downspout.
A section of downspout is like 10-12 bucks. Rather then wasting time trying to fix it, I’d recommend you splurge and spend 20 dollars on your project.
