Repairnig water damage to windowsill?

I put some potted herbs up on my windowsill, it’s sort of the regular white dry wall, and now it has water damage.

How can i fix this? Can I paint over it or what? I dont know nothing about home improvement.

You can paint it if it’s only a stain. You may need to use something like Kilz a stain blocking paint first to avoid bleed through on the final paint. Kilz

If the damage isn’t too bad, you can cut the damaged area out with a utility knife, then fill with layers of drywall “mud” (reinforcing large areas with fiberglass mesh tape) and sand smooth. After it’s smooth, texture with a can of touch-up texture compound.
If the damage is really bad, you can cut out the piece of drywall and replace it.

Note that none of this stuff is “rocket science,” but it takes some skill to get the repair to look perfect.

If you don’t know nuttin about home repair, drywall repair is a great place to start. Just a few tools, mud is easy to work with and you can dig it out and start over if you want. I’d probably just let this dry and then put a couple of coats of kitchen and bath paint on it, assuming the surface is still smooth.
