Just saw Repo Men. It came across as somewhat … tedious, but we liked the actors and with a lot of interruptions in the room it’s possible that we may have missed something deeper.
Anyone see it and find it less-than-tedious? Like it? Have a deeper meaning other than the surface ham-handed approach?
Particular question: in the airport, our Reluctant Hero purposely ditches the jamming equipment that got them through the security line. He had to pickpocket the Reluctant Heroin to get hers, then he surreptitiously dumps them in a waste bin. Did we miss some reason for that? Our recollection is that this happened before the Brazil-break (i.e., before they showdown in the apartment). Is that correct? Obviously if it happed after the the break, then logic need not apply.
Yeah, when we first saw the trailer a long time ago we thought awesome! but then it turned out to be something else. Still thought it would be good, now, not so sure.
We chalked that stupidity up to the Brazil effect. The massive hints of the neural net attachment (or whatever) having some role to play left us waiting for the shoe to drop and the overdone everyone-has-a-gun scene in the lead-up pretty much sealed it. Not that we predicted the exact nature of the Brazil-roll, but it was there and gave the surreal end-action a small pass on logic.
Still a tedious two hours–seems a universal tedium, too. Usually someone has something good to say.
