I keep a large amount of text files both large and small on a wide range of subjects: message board posts, articles, witty sayings, subversive material, whatever strikes my fancy. Upon organizing them I stumbled upon the following exchange. Does it make any sense or is the guy replying totally out to lunch?
I thought children would do that sort of thing on their own without prompting. But I wouldn’t really know.
I will admit that drawing photographic imagery took a significant amount of time for man to achieve, but if anything that is itself evidence that it didn’t pop out of air. And imaginative play? Heck, dogs and cats play with things as though pretending they are something else.
But I wonder . . . how many kids would start drawing, without having seen evidence that it had been done by others. For that matter, I wonder how many people would be the first to do anything. I don’t buy the argument that we’re “hard-wired” to do certain things. Sure, we have the capacity, but that’s different.
