I don’t think Santos’ prior track record gives me any reason to accept this apology as being genuine. I might have been slightly more forgiving if part of his apology had mentioned about working to earn money (not donations) to of his own free well to pay back the state and individuals he defrauded.

The only time he would vote would be when he was on the ballot. Why bother any other time, what’s in it for him?
It doesn’t count as a scam any more – it’s a prerequisite. Republican Evangelical grifter go together; it’s a package deal. The only area for creative storytelling will be how everything he did was the Democrats’ fault.
Watched Vaush earlier, and he was celebrating this. His reasoning was that Santos is hated by people on both sides of the political spectrum, so it will backfire on Trump.
But I just think it’s another sad page in a fucking big book of things to be dismayed about. And I don’t see it hurting Trump – for those of us who care about the rule of law, we were already at max outrage. And MAGA don’t care when it’s their side.
They’ll be a lot for a future democratic (small d) president to fix, I would hope that reform of the pardon power is high on the list.

Criminal trump made a very big example of Santos. And not in the usual way. What trump said loud and clear was
All loyalists are above the law. King trump will protect all loyalists, no matter how scurvy, and will throw all non-loyalists to the dogs. Any prosecutor anywhere thinking of prosecuting a loyalist should stop now; even if you win, it’ll be pointless as king trump overturns your work at a glance.
Beyond that, everyone everywhere should decide which side they’re on: loyalist, or soon-to-be-unpardonable-criminal.
One of the Jan 6th traitors was being sentenced after Trump won and the judge asked him if he had anything to say before sentencing. He said something like, “whatever. Trump is going to pardon me in a few weeks,”

They say Santos misled the public and turned a profit based on that deception in the tens of thousands of dollars.
