Reptiles and other animals that swallow prey hold. Have they evolved to have a dietary requirement for the contents of their preys stomach and intestinal contents? I have a reason for asking, trying to develop a line of reptile food that might also include birds of prey, amphibians, fish etc. The idea is to grind of the entire animal and press it into sausages of various sizes and recipes according to what animal would be eating it. The contents of the intestinal tract would have a negative effect on the smell and taste of the product that the animal would not experience if swallowing his prey whole.
Don’t you think the food might be better provided by the many already existing premixes on the market, made by people who already know reptile nutrition requirements? You don’t think this is a brand new idea, do you?
(I see that the quail mix includes not only guts but also feathers.)
(Qualifications: I don’t raise reptiles, but I like this manga, which goes into extensive detail about the needs of various reptiles. (That’s the official, legal English source for reading it. Less official but more free sites are a google away.).)

Yes I am well aware of competition, I will be working on my own line. All the current products have their own sets of issues. A good share of animals reject this food, many of them try it and don’t like it so they spit it out. I suspect the stomach contents might be part of the issue. This post is only dealing with one of those issues.
Yes they are generally including the entire whole animal into the food. It would be more expensive to remove guts with the processing involved.
