I never realized that “right to work” was just another term for “at will employment”. I just thought it meant that unions couldn’t force you to join. I thought it was the equivalent of “open shop”. Ignorance fought.

Right-to-work laws are statutes enforced in twenty-two U.S. states, mostly in the southern or western U.S., allowed under provisions of the Taft-Hartley Act, which prohibit agreements between labor unions and employers that make membership, payment of union dues, or fees a condition of employment, either before or after hiring, which would require the workplace to be a closed shop.

Yes, there are quite a few of them Case in point: Joe the Plumber. Worried more about his fantasy of someday owning the plumbing company he worked for then his financial reality right now.

And meanwhile not knowing the difference between gross and net income so that he thought the business that grossed $1M would be taxed on the entire amount, or understanding marginal rates.
