Just to clarify this:

Republication of material appearing on the SDMB without express written permission of the Reader is prohibited, except that users retain the right to republish their own work.

I can use past posts of mine, in whole or in part, in anything I publish henceforth without explicit permission. If I want to use other posts (including Cecil’s Column itself, naturally), I need explicit permission.
