For the Darlin’ Diva with the Tuba [del](Breasts again!) [/del] OOOOPS!
More Freudians! Good grief! :o
For the Darlin’ Diva with the Tuba REHEARSALS THAT KEEP HER BUSY:
[del]Well, I didn’t mean um, yours, and, gosh, I would not even be worrying about this if I still didn’t know you were a woman… [/del]
Better just move on, right…
Anyway, with a buncha’ days ***(Does anyone know how many?!) ***left in an extension (regarding that previous subject) I want to e-mail you regarding the possibility of multiple threads promoting it in the Eleventh Hour, so to speak.
I know how that sounds, but the multiple thread idea I have is brimming with creativity, and will bring many a chuckle to all.
Yes, I may be able to engage every remaining forum (under “main”) with a single new thread, and do that with credibility. Comments on Cecil’s Columns/…Staff Reports may be a challenge, and I may perhaps skip Game Room, but we will see.
On a related note, here is the section of the REG-AGREEM I should have read about 10 days ago. I’m including it to educate anyone who may make the same mistake I made: Promoting something (even later deemed worthy) requires first asking mods/admins… and then one must OP with a note to the effect that they agreed that the thread could be started.
FROM THE REGISTRATION AGREEMENT:
“This message board is intended as a medium for public discussion. Do not post spam, including but not limited to advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, solicitations, offers to trade or barter, charitable appeals, or other messages primarily intended to promote a cause, venture, organization, event (except Straight Dope-related events), website, or other entity or activity, whether or not money is involved. Do not post spam in your signature or send it via the SDMB’s “private message” feature. ***We allow exceptions for worthy causes (in our sole opinion) if you obtain prior permission from a moderator or administrator. ***We do not require prior approval for non-commercial gift exchanges, e.g., “secret Santa” exchanges. CLM and its agents, including the administrators and moderators of the Straight Dope Message Board, make no representation that they have investigated or vetted charitable appeals, gift exchanges, and similar activities promoted on this board or groups or individuals associated with them. We do not vouch for, monitor, sponsor, endorse, or have any formal association with such activities. Proceed at your own risk.”
Consequently, I have amended your thread title, from “For the Darlin’ Diva with the Tuba (Breasts again!)” to something that is relevant to your post.
And, finally, also from the Registration Agreement:
So, the answer is NO, you may not post multiple threads on the same topic, however worthy the cause.
OK, that was me as moderator. On a purely personal level, I have to sy that I would never contribute to any cause that felt the need to attract attention by screaming “breasts!”
Dex, did you ever wish you could make a rewind over several hours, a day, or two days?
At this point I could try to “explain” why I did what I did, but I feel that such would amount to trying to dodge full responsibility.
WHERE is my common sense?! I’d better find it quickly, because I sure have a lot ahead of me in the next few weeks, in 3D, with ***even more ***at stake than my valued membership here.
It is good that you changed the thread title. I accept it and the reason for it.
I think that, in the future, whenever there is any doubt of what I want to contribute, I should write it out in full, on paper, to guarantee that I will have sufficient time to reflect on any possible points of bad judgment.
Now, then: There are other ways for me to proceed with what I want to do, and I can do them without in any way connecting back to SDMB.
– Oh, and BTW, I am not affiliated with these charities, in case that’s what anyone has thought. And given my lack of sound judgment lately, they no doubt would not want me to be. At least not any time soon.
It’s good that you are passionate about wanting to make the world a little better place and help others; those positive attributes are a powerful force for change.
A tad more focus, a bit more direction is called for here – unfocused energy is messy.
Best of intentions, we get that. “No harm, no foul.”
