I decided to watch it because I never seen it before since I was too young at the time.
How do you think the main characters in Requiem For a Dream (2000) turned out to be later in the future.
Marion
Harry
Sara Goldfarb
Tyrone

Nothing good.
It’s been at least a dozen years since I watched it, but I got the impression those last scenes are their ultimate futures.
Agreed. I thought that was the point, they all crashed and burned.
It is obscure whether Sara’s brain was fried permanently or not.
As for Tyrone and Harry, their should be a high chance of them quitting the drug for good since neither of them are going to be able to use it anytime soon.
As for Marion I don’t know.
Considering Tyrone is black it seems that its highly likely that he would just be a bum once he comes out of prison though.
Wow, there is so much ignorance and crazy and racism here I don’t even know where to start.
Marion: permanent addict, homeless within a year, dead of an overdose within 5
Harry: relapses soon after release from prison, dead of an overdose or another infection within 2 years
Sara Goldfarb: permanent psych ward resident
Tyrone: homeless after release, substitutes booze for other drugs, manages to survive 20 years on the streets
Uhhh, what?
:smack:
It seemed pretty unambiguous to me that Sara was permanently checked out of her own head.
Tyrone and Harry are in a Southern prison on drug charges. I don’t recall if it’s specified what the charges are, but they were trying to score a lot of heroin to take back to NY. I don’t know what you know about prison, but from what I know they’re not anything close to the 100% drug-free places they are meant to be. Since you asked us to speculate, my money is on “they both die in prison,” either from continued drug use, or the damage they’ve already done to themselves, or something else. In any case, neither of them are ever seeing the outside world again.
Marion had already taken her first big steps to becoming a junkie whore. Junkie whores tend to live very short, turbulent lives, to put it mildly.
Warning issued for hate speech.
Thread relocated from IMHO to Cafe Society.
Tyrone is the only one with any chance of a life going forward, in my opinion, if he manages to get out of jail.
The girl will be a crack-whore and die on the streets, the old lady dead in a mental hospital, the kid dead in a prison hospital.
That was a real “feel-good” movie.
I don’t want to speak for Contemplation but I’m *choosing *to believe he meant that Tyrone’s prospects would be *extra *slim with the added burden of being a *minority *ex-con. Still, I can see a small spark of possibility in him (Tyrone, that is; I don’t know Contemplation ;))
I think the degradation would get to Marion before long and she would kill herself.
Sarah will live out the rest of her days in an institution but her mind is so far gone she may or may not realize where she is. I like to think she creates a world within her own head in which she’s happy.
Not sure about Harry. I could see him getting out of prison and staying clean but living a really fecking miserable life.
Whenever the subject comes up here or IIRL about movies that you like but never want to see again, this is always at the top of my list. It’s making me borderline nauseated just thinking about it
You guys misunderstood the Tyrone thing. I mean’t that his employment opportunities are super low considering his situation when he gets released.
All four form a bluegrass band and travel the country in a van while solving crimes.
Kinda like the famous Blue Collar Comedy Tour. But this’ll be the MethHead Comedy Tour. And far less funny or successful.
Did the Blue Collar Comedy Tour solve many crimes? I didn’t really…follow their progress, I guess you could say.
No crimes that I know of. But it *was *4 mismatched misfits in a van traveling the country and doing dumb stuff almost nightly. Very well-paying dumb stuff.
I’m very far from the redneck who was their stated target market. But damn they were funny. Try it; you might like it.
