Rescue team at 'Ground Zero' caught stealing stuff? UL?

In the media today, over here, there are reports about fire fighters and others from the rescue team post 9/11, stealing stuff. The news story mentions jeans from hte GAP store and that the fire trucks were loaded with stuff. Computers and whatever.
I would link to the article in question, but see little point in doing that with a Swedish newspaper.
This seems… wrong. Would there really be anything worth stealing, other than maybe a macabre memorabilia? Most of the stuff was destroyed, no? And if it’s an UL - which I suspect - has anybody else heard about it and do we know where it started.
I’ve googled and checked CNN. I can’t find references to the story in the Swedish newspaper. I’ve checked snopes.com, too.

I feel regret and sadness on saying this may be true. There was a story on NPR long back reporting wide scale looting of computer/computer parts when the WTC had collapsed.

According to this site some looting was done people pretending to be rescue workers.

The allegations of looting from The Gap come from an article in The Atlantic Monthly by William Langewiesche. The news is getting another go around because his book is now being published. Lanewiesche had almost unlimited access to the cleanup operations. The article and book recount finding a stack of neatly folded Gap jeans in a firetruck that was crushed by falling debris. He also claims construction workers and police looted from the ruins. This is a different allegation than the one Floater posted.

Here’s an article about the controversy. You can find more stories by searching on some keywords.
