Resetting PC visuals while not seeing a thing...

I tried to get my PC (with recently installed Lubuntu) to work with my HDMI input on my TV, because I was getting display but no sound. I changed a bunch of settings that did nothing, and after changing around the graphics card setting or something, now nothing comes up. Either from the HDMI port or my VGA monitor.

Is there a way to blind reset my PC visuals to the stock video card?

If it were Windows, I would recommend trying to boot into Safe Mode, which, I think, does not use your regular video drivers. I have no idea whether there is an equivalent thing in Lubuntu, however.

In my experience all you would have to do is pull the add-on video card out of it’s slot and reconnect the monitor to the onboard video connector. When booting up, the computer should automatically recognize the onboard video as the only option and grab it. As always, YMMV.

In case future generations should find this thread, I took the (Canadian) Thanksgiving long weekend to research and solve the problem. The trick was to unplug the tower, open it up, and remove the 3v watch battery on the motherboard. Then, I popped the battery back, put everything together again, and it was back to default settings!

Offtopic, but what do you thank in Canada?

I’m betting they mostly give thanks they’re not Americans. They’re kinda proud of not being absorbed by the Borg-ish US.

they are thankful for the beaver.

Beavers are great. No question. And the Alouettes won!

It may surprise or perhaps even shock you but it is pretty much to do with fall harvest just like in the US. We have summer and farming here too!!! Turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce pumpkin pie. It arises from the same sources - European settlers establishing farms and and surviving another year in what was to them a wilderness. There are several stories of Canadian origin but it wouldn’t surprise me if it made its way up from the US.

It is going to be a pleasant 17 C (you figure it out) in Calgary today, but it could blizzard any fuck’n moment so we don’t wait another month. My brother-in-law finished harvest last week and is spreading now., so the timing is appropriate.
