Restricted language in the pit

I note that one of the rules for pit language is:

*The following expressions should not be directed at other posters.
fuck you and variants, e.g., go fuck yourself, fuck off and die *

Is this rule very flexible? For example, is it pretty much OK if certain long-time posters break this, so it is overlooked in their case?

I’m thinking about Clothahump in this thread:

And particularly these posts:

Three mods have posted in this thread, so they have most likely seen this. I’m sure that if I ever told someone to fuck off, I would earn myself a warning.

So… Is it specifically saying “fuck you” to another poster that’s bad? (and “fuck off” is OK?). Is “fuck off” OK, but “fuck off and die” a no-no?

Just seeking clarification.

ETA: And I’m probably in the wrong forum…

I think so too … reported for forum change …

See post #17 here.

Thanks. I see that Post #50 in that thread is also relevant here.

Thanks

Ah yes, very relevant. Thanks.

He seems rather pleased to be able to do this, I note.

Yes. Moving to ATMB.

Thanks - seems I basically have my answer;

  • Mods interpret the phrases included in the language sticky in the pit as narrowly as possible.

  • Some posters like to skirt as close as possible to this line - perhaps it gives them a little thrill, who knows.
