Rethink Pink Floyd

I thought they’d written “When the Tigers Broke Free” for the movie and that if it missed out on being on an album, it was The Final Cut not The Wall.

Right. If it’s more of a concept and less of a narrative it’s easier to make it work.

Cyndi Lauper was considerably less irritating than I thought she’d be.

Yes, that suprised me too. But what really stood out for me was Sinead when she sang “Mother do you think they’ll try to break my balls?” Best line I ever heard her deliver. It even beats her statement about the Pope on SNL . . . IMHO.

And yes, I know Syd was “Pink”. I was just trying to convey that Roger was the remaining spirit of “Pink” in the remaining group at the time of “The Wall”. Given there fight over the name of the band after they broke up and all . . .

I remember Roger a while back saying that “Pink” was a culmination of all the members of the band, but Syd (for the insanity and genius) and Roger (for loss of father and a rocky marriage) primarily. But the way I see it, he was the one who stuck it out most of the years of the band’s existence, therefore I identify him as Pink. If you went to the solo concerts of Gilmour and Waters to see which one carries on with the Floyd tradition, then I think you’ll agree with me. Don’t get me wrong, Gilmour does a great performance (excellent guitarist…good lyricist), but I’m not seeing “Pink Floyd”, even when Gilmour carries the band name. Gimme a screeching Waters and the stage props anytime!
