Retired certs on resume

I have the CompTIA Healthcare IT certification, which was retired on 3/1/2017. Anyone who had the cert current at the retirement date, which I did, will have it for life.
Should I keep it on my resume? If so, for how long?

I would.

I have several certifications on my resume that were either discontinued or simply not renewed by me. I show the effective dates after listing the certification.

If you earned a certification, you obviously put some effort into the process and had the required experience and knowledge. That’s a good thing and the person making a decision to hire you should know about it.

I own an IT consulting business and read a lot of resumes.

If you are certified on SQL Server 2005, ok. Please do not send me a 10 page resume showing that you have experience with MS DOS, Novell NetWare 4 Level II, ArcNet, and Harvard Graphics!
