Return of SDMB Fantasy Baseball

Caught that did ya?
Errata:

Regarding Erstad,

should read ‘Does anybody remember his 1-million hit 2000 campaign any more?’ It barely even makes sense as a sentence that way, so the typo was worth correcting.
I also failed to mention that the very good Fat Roger pick at # 142 overall and the 35th starter taken was made by Weirddave.

I also failed to mention something that I had been drafting a nice little section on about the subplots Dave fueled by drafting Mesa and Vizquel with consecutive picks. Can he get extra credit for that?

Through some ingenious detective work (ie. reading through the first page of this thread) I’ve matched up another team with SDMB persona: Blake’s Bears is really blakeformayor. The last mystery team is the Isotopes, and this is embarrassing, because I know I’ve played in leagues with you before, but I don’t recall ever knowing who you are on the board.

Isotopes was in my league last year, as well. He said in the draft that he’s mostly a lurker.

Winnowill, I’ve signed up for your league as well. Looking over all these draft sheets is making me hungry to do it again. Hope that’s alright.

I also have a question for everyone. Does anybody remember the one late-round pick that at the time I said I didn’t like? Somebody remarked that it was the only negative comment I made during the draft, but of course now I have no idea who it was in regards to and I’m curious. Anyone else remember that?

I remember it, but I don’t remember what or whom it regarded.

Oh, and you (and anyone else here) are more than welcome to join my little league - that’s why I posted the info! Glad to have you!

So the Twins put Milton on the 60-day DL today. Gives me hope that I won’t be sitting on Hoffman until the season starts, but for some reason the Pads haven’t put either Nevin or Hoffman on the DL yet. I guess they’re just lazy. I’m itching to pick up some free agents though.

WL, could it have been my pick of Robert Fick? I remember someone saying he wouldn’t get playing time…

Yeah, I said that. Was that it? I dunno. I was wrong about that by the way.

Hey Treviathan, did you get my email?

Oh, and with Karsay listed as starting the season on the DL now, perhaps I may start the season with not enough players to fill my roster. Yippee!

I’m opening up my league to general Yahoo! participants on Thursday, so, if you want in, now’s the time!

Oh, and WL, how about the rest of your draft analysis?

I’m in, Winnowill. Team name’s the Highlanders.

Whee! With eight teams, I’m officially opening it up to the NL as well. I’m hoping for four more.

I’m glad to see the league filling up, too. And I’m also waiting for the rest of WL’s draft analysis.

That was my comment, but since it was so late in the draft, I (a) was dead tired and (b) have no idea who anyone is beyond round 17.

Also, is anyone else miffed that you can’t directly pull someone onto your DL without dropping someone?

I vote to keep the Melting Pot AL-only. That’s way cooler.

To amplify: I think an 8-team AL-only league is far more interesting than a 12-team combined league.

As far as the DL thing, Munch, it’s obnoxious but given the way Yahoo’s system works there’s really no other way to do it. Plus this way at least it keeps things more fluid, with more player movement.

Ehh… yeah. Right. I just wish I had heard about Dan Wilson going on the DL before I dropped Phelps for Farnsworth so I could have waited till tonight to do it and squeezed Wilson in between. Although the level of cleverness exhibited in this league so far leads me to believe that Farnsworth wouldn’t have lasted the night with the new development in the Cubbies’ 'pen.

Well, let’s see what everyone thinks. I’ll post here and the other place I’ve got the league posted and see what the consensus is. I don’t absolutely HAVE to open it up further (and an eight-team draft would definitely be shorter…)

Treviathan, I was just pondering the likelyhood of getting ahold of you this week to chit chat. Not sure how often you check email, but I’ve got a feeler out there for ya.
