Revolting

Holy Shit. Can you please put a warning on your future threads eg. “not worth opening”? Your title was really misleading. Thanks.

Let me get this straight, someone invited you over to their home for a party. Offered to feed you, entertain you, and open their home to you.

And you are in a snit because you want to go someplace larger with better toys? You’re in such a snit that you want to ruin the party for everyone else by having a “revolt” get together?

Do you realize that having a party is hard work (in preparation, while hosting, and afterwards) and that being invited to someone’s home is a generous thing you should be grateful for?

Do you think you’re maybe being more than a bit selfish?

Either go to the party or sit home with your snitty attitude. Don’t ruin it for everyone else.

Not that it matters now, but why didn’t you take this up with your youth director? Was it perhaps, because you know he/she would not go for your idea?

Oh, and why did you think that we dopers would be sympathic to your cause?

This seems like a really rotten thing to do to Erin and her family.

Really rotten. Un-Christian, even.

I agree this is unChristian (and I am a Christian). If she doesn’t want to go that is her business. BUT to try to schedule a revolt. That is stupid. Also what are you teaching your kids! “Oh, if you don’t like the toys someone has, you can be mean spirited”.

I am wondering if the OP is someone who goes to church just to be “on show”. You know, the one who judges people on their clothes, has to do things so everyone else will think they are great, etc.

To the OP: You need to ask God to clean you of that attitude problem and ask Him to show you how to be a kind and gracious person.

I am also wondering if you posted this thinking that everyone would agree with you. I am happy to say: you are wrong.
