Public schools represent the single largest institutional force of enculturation here in the United States. Public schools are a shared cultural experience that imparts values, allows us a place to learn/practice our social skills and where children learn knowledge and skills that will form a foundation for whatever they choose to do after graduation. I am uncomfortable bringing up a generation of children for whom it is normal for authority figures to know exactly where they are at the push of a button. Acceptance of such things is not a value I wish to impart on children.
Unless they implant them (like in a dog) what is to ensure the child remembers to carry it? I’ve forgotten my badge for work before. My kid has forgotten his keys to get in the house before & those are needed to access their respective locations. Will they make the child go home (w/o a bus) to get it?
Well, on the other hand, most teachers and other members of schools’ staff already come with state-of-the art optical facial recognition technology pre-built into their biological brain/eye-based visual system.
Dont be silly, you can’t monetize that!
Given that we were regularly asked to provide school supplies for the school in general, I’d be pretty pissed if they spent this much money on something that might not have any measurable benefit.
If I had a passive RFID locator injected into my (hypothetical) daughter’s ass, and Og forbid she was abducted, couldn’t the local sheriff’s office send some drones over the area to send out her signal?
Nope the return signal would too weak to detect from any great distance.
What he said. Good uses for passive ones are to identify your child should they get lost (or killed).
