Rhinoceroses, sad situation, but "Genocide?"

That’s because pumpkins are not sentient. Which Rhinos ARE. So raping a rhino would be both morally evil and … extremely dangerous. So your analogy fails, on so many levels.

If we artificially inseminate them (to help them increase in number or diversify genetically), is that not a form of rape?

Maybe … I dunno … what’s your point? We’re getting far afield here …

You said raping a rhino would be morally evil. Not so.

GMO is RAPE!!

And very awkward when you have to ask to borrow a bit of horn.

Artificial insemination isn’t rape. Yeah, yeah, you’ll pull out the definition from a dictionary, but usage is what matters, and people by and large don’t refer to artificial insemination as rape. The real definition is more complicated than “penetrate without consent.”

You are inseminating a willing creature (as they are in estrus), and you aren’t doing it for your own sexual satisfaction, as a violent act, or to assert dominance. Most people thus don’t consider it rape.

Only activists call it rape, and they do to stir up emotions and to try and make people stop. No one who is okay with it considers it rape.

Hell, I can even find activists who think it’s stupid to call it rape.

Well if you want to stick your dick in a rhino, I’d say that’s rape and a bad thing, and if you get trampled in the process, I’ll probably just giggle. If you want to artificially inseminate a rhino to keep the species alive, whole different thing. Inconsistent, I suppose, but there it is.

You don’t know that. Maybe they’re just really shy.

Rape applies to humans. You don’t rape a rhino anymore than you murder a cow.

And regarding being morally wrong, is it better or worst than, say, riding a horse for fun? Better or worst than castrating it?

If you wanna stick your dick in a rhino make sure it is the LAST item on your bucket list.

Insert old bad joke about Eskimo woman and Polar bear here. :o

A holocaust was originally a burnt sacrifice, one where the sacrificed animal was completely burned to ashes. Yes, I understand that the word has been applied to a specific event, so that using it might be awkward even if it isn’t capitalized.

Believe it or not, there are people who say exactly that. I think there’s a quote by the ignoramus celebrity Vandana Shiva to that effect, although I’m not sure I want to spend the time perusing her works to locate it.
