The Hamster is just an unlucky driver. 
Filming in Switzerland for Grand Tour, he crashed his Rimac Concept One electric supercar (which subsequently burst into flames) and was airlifted to the hospital with a fractured knee.
Definitely a better outcome than it could have been, and light years ahead of his last crash.
I saw that article. I think his* last* crash was a motorcycle wreck. IIRC he broke his wrist. Also while filming the next series of The Grand Tour.
But yeah, he seems to do all the wrecking on that show.

I just saw the footage in the show, not knowing that Hammond had been in a crash while filming, and it seemed like after the Finish line his car just kept accelerating. I was quite surprised when the car went over the edge!
I’m curious if there has been any more information about what happened? Did the breaks stop working?
I do like how the other two now give him nothing but grief about it. I enjoy their dynamic quite a bit.
I have no external knowledge of the accident other than what has been broadcast. Seemed pretty nasty and I’m glad he has recovered well enough for them to joke about it.
I especially liked how one of them said they should sell ad space on the bottom of his car. Good stuff.
Yeah,I’m curious what happened, that wasn’t just missing by a bit. The car wasn’t even close to making the corner.
