Story here. Seemed like a really easy-going guy.
Shame. Loved him in The Burbs.
Ditto on The Burbs. Recently re-watched Groundhog Day. He and the other Rick (Overton) made a great comedy pair.
He used to turn up in small roles all over the place: Die Hard, Spaceballs, Max Headroom, etc.
Shame he didn’t have a bigger career.
Oh yeah: “Don’t drive on the railroad track.”
Well, Phil, that’s one I happen to agree with.
Wasn’t Rick Ducommun kind of a staple on early 1990s cable comedy programming? A&E’s Night at the Improv, early Comedy Channel, etc. I remember liking his stand-up … just can’t remember exactly where I saw it.
RIP
I remember watching him on Ha!/early Comedy Central, back when they were desperate to fill air time and ran a lot of stand-up. After seeing him on there a lot, it was always a sort of pleasant little surprise when I’d recognize him in some little role in a movie I’d seen a hundred times, like the PG&E guy in Die Hard.
“Shut it down. Shut it down now.”
What was Karen Carpenter’s favorite food?
The cheetah burger.
RIP Rick.
Satan is good, satan is your pal
Didn’t recognize the name, but I certainly knew the face.
Dude was all over the place…bummer that he’s passed…
Damn. To me, he’s the hapless and eventually recycled Mahler from Max Headroom. A shame.
He did leave the (iffy-futured) show for a much better string of movie appearances, at least, and a pretty good career.
