Rick Reilly's ESPN.com columns

Why isn’t there a comment section? He’s the only columnist I notice who lacks a comment tab after his columns.

Because he’s already HEARD millions of people tell him what a sphincter he is, and figures he doesn’t need to be reminded again?

More seriously, I don’t understand why MORE columnists don’t follow suit. Comboxes are, too often, a waste of space, a place for puerile, obscene, anonymous insults. Why would Reilly want to read such stuff? Why would ANY columnist?

If the potential commenters for his column are anything like the commenters on our local newpaper’s website, he’s being very prudent.

Just gonna agree with the first post. He knows that everyone hates him…why encourage it?
(That being said he newest article is actually very good…imagine how great it would be if a GOOD writer would have done it)

The thing is, Reilly used to be a fine writer. About six or seven years ago he decided he was really a comedian, and his columns went to shit.

Bill Simmons too. I don’t miss the comments; most of the time they’re pretty useless.
