It’s rare that somebody is that absurdly popular for two months and then to completely vanish- usually it’s more of a fizzle. Do you think he’s a John Travolta or a Jenny McCarthy?
Incidentally, I love Betty Bowers’ “Ex Gay Ricky” graph.

He’s gone. Forever. He’s less popular than parachute pants and Kris Kross.
I beg to differ. He’s sold like 40 million albums worldwide. He won an AMA for favorite Latin artist in 2003. He’s released 7 (I think) albums since 1991-- hardly a flash in the pan-- including “Almas del Silencio” in 2003 which peaked at #12 on Billboard.
Just because you don’t hear much about him, doesn’t mean he’s gone, fizzled or unpopular.
Happy
Funny - I was just listening to an old Ricky Martin CD this morning. I liked his Spanish stuff enough that I was really looking forward to hearing him in English, but the CD I have is almost all ballads, which I much prefer to that dance stuff. I was kinda disappointed that he was doing all dance music in English. Maybe if the Ricky-the-Latino-Heartthrob furor is over, he’ll go back to ballads, ala Julio Iglesias.
He’ll only be truly gone when he releases an album and you don’t hear about it.
Don’t bet against him. He was hot the FIRST time I was in Latin America. He faded, he heated up.
Seems to be a smart, talented guy.
He can always come back to General Hospital, if nothing else. Then he and Jax can wrestle in oil.
When my mom and sister were in Chile over the summer, they said he was huuge there at the moment, so I imagine he’s still got a large amount of popularity in places that aren’t the USA.
Old Ricky’s don’t die. They just fade away.
Who?
