And, barring any sort of wacky governmental intervention, on May 18, 2004 I will be married to the greatest guy ever.
Not that it will matter much once we leave the state, but as long as it means something to us, who cares.

Of course it will matter. No marriage is validated by a government’s position on it. What makes marriages worthwhile is the knowledge of those involved that they are committing their lives (or at least a significant portion thereof) to the happiness of another person.
With that said, congratulations!
