This thing drove me a little crazy. I only could see her going one way. Today I “StumbledUpon” a web page that shows the animation with some added leg lines that makes it easier to see both directions.
I browsed the thread to see if anyone already linked to this and I didn’t see any so I offer you this.
I can make the dancer change directions using this method:
Look at the rotating image and turn your head to the left until you can no longer see it with your peripheral vision. Imagine the image spinning in the direction you’d like to see it and then slowly turn your head back so you can just make it out. It should be spinning in the direction you chose.
Yeah, and those magazines at the supermarket checkout with hot models on the cover - like Cosmopolitan and Vanity Fair - those are all bought by men, right?
At first I saw her spinning only clockwise and I couldn’t reverse it. I was about to post how all of you all are crazy, but then she started spinning the other way!
One question, though. When you see her spinning clockwise, there is a clear shadow of her foot going from the right side of the image to the left side. I kept looking at this as definitive proof that she was rotating clockwise.
Now, when I see her spinning the other way, I try to trace the same shadow to see what happens, but my mind then reverses the image. Can anyone point out what I perceive is a clear shadow from right to left of her foot, and what is it doing when she is spinning counter-clockwise…
I just opened this up in a gif editor and looked at each frame. played it what ever speed. just looked at stills .ect and it still only spins clockwise. I’m i missing somthing?
If anyone want i will upload the 34frames.
