Ringing the Christmas Bells

There’s a Christmas story of a little cripple boy who travels to church on and sees all the towns people leaving expensive gifts on the altar. He is told that the church bells used to ring when people placed gifts there, but the bells haven’t rung for many years.

The little cripple boy gives his crutches because he hasn’t anything else to give and the bells ring out because his heart was pure and he gave what he valued instead of what he thought would impress God.

For your sanity’s sake, I urge you not to think about the story too hard (I think God healed the little cripple boy, but the kid would have been happy crawling away).

Just go with the idea that a gift given through love will make your bells ring.

Mine did this year.

**Maggenkid **made me a pewter necklace during school tech class. As I was cleaning out her end of year stuff, I found the paperwork that went along with it. The design process, the methodology and the reason …

“My mum is a solo mum and she works very hard to give me everything I need so I want to give her something nice because I love her.”

Wept buckets. Bells rang. Damn fine necklace too.

Did anyone ring your bell this year? Please share.
