What the fuck just happened to Alta Vista? The Advanced Search screen is missing in action and I’m getting Yahoo error messages when I try to go to any regular-page search returns!
I have a nasty suspicion Alta Vista has been acquired by Yahoo which in turn may see no reason to retain its lovely boolean search capabilities.
Anyone know anything?
Temporary glitch, mayber? This looks like Advanced Search and seems to include Boolean expressions.
Yeah, I’d guess “glitch”, too. The Advanced Search page is loading just fine for me, too.
Although . . . these are things I didn’t know, having not followed the search engine wars: Overture bought AltaVista and then Yahoo bought OVerture. So it seems AltaVista is a Yahoo subsidiary at this point.
