Well I’ll be dammed. Bummer. He really and truly seemed like a very nice and likable guy. G’bye Dudley, you’ll be sorely missed.
That is so sad. Dudley Moore was such a great talent! Arthur is definitely one of the best comedies of all time. We’ll miss you, Dudley!
Great Arthur lines:
Susan: “Arthur, give me your hand” Arthur: “That would leave you with one!!”
“It’s a goner”
“Don’t you HATE Perry’s wife??!”
Linda: “Was it wonderful?” Arthur: “It doesn’t suck”
“She’s a princess. It’s a small island. They’re thinking of having the whole thing carpeted…”
How sad. I always liked him. Especially in Like Father Like Son. That movie cracked me up.
R.I.P.
That is so sad. Dudley Moore has been one of my favorite actors for years and I felt so bad when I saw his interview last year (?) where he annouced that he was sick with an illness that would eventually kill him.
But I swear I broke down and cried when he said what upset him the most about his illness was not the dying, but that it had robbed him of his ability to play music.
I think I’ll go pop Arthur into the DVD and mourn the world’s loss of the two greats that were in it.
Damn. That’s a shame. I hope he and Peter Cook join back up, wherever they are.
We’ll miss you.
Zap!
Dudley Moore really died when he and Peter Cook stopped being a comedy team.
Check out The Wrong Box and the original Bedazzled.
Hobson & Arthur…together again.
“Perhaps you’d like me to wash your dick for you, you little sh*t”
Poor sod…
Had to dig up my Derek & Clive collection–Live & Come Again. What an underappreciated and underutilized talent.
Drink one for me, Arthur.
Aw, nuts.
We’re talking about “Arthur” here. I think “poor sot” would be more appropriate.
I think you’re being a little harsh RT. Beyond the Fringe, Not Only but Also, etc. were outstanding comedy, true (if you have not heard this stuff, Go. Now. Find.) But his solo movie career was not without merit; see 10 and Arthur and of course his music never faltered until the end. I’m with Arden Ranger, I saw the interview too, that his illness robbed him of his music was the most heartbreaking thing I’d heard.
Awww, shit.
