RIP Donald "Duck" Dunn

Billboard obit…

A good player in some great bands. He will be missed.

He was a bass player powerful enough to turn goat piss into gasoline.

Aw, man!

RIP, Duck. You were one of the Good Guys.

Awww… I’m going to have “green onions” on loop today.

Shit. Now they’re definitely not getting the band back together. :frowning: (In this life, at least.) Rest in peace.

RIP.

Ain’t it a fact. Kick-ass from way back. High school?

Damn! Duck is working that one!

If the shit fits, wear it.

How many others of you tend to confuse “Green Onions” with THE MAR-KEYS - Last Night?

My favorite live album is Eric Clapton’s double disc Just One Night where Dunn really stands out on rock, blues, and pseudo-country. RIP.

Make sure it’s a live version; Duck didn’t play on the studio version.

I’ll be bringing my copy of What Duck Done to work tomorrow. What a shame…I was just teaching one of my student “In the Midnight Hour”.

I “like” the Rolling Stones on my Facebook page. Today they (whatever entity represents the Stones on FB) posted an RIP for Dunn accompanied by a video of Otis Redding performing “I Can’t Turn You Loose” live from 1966. Only thing is, Dunn isn’t playing bass in the video. I’m guessing that maybe he played on the studio recording of the tune, otherwise, WTF Rolling Stones?

Damn. This bites royally. At least he’s gone to play that Great Gig In The Sky.

Now I’m really feeling “Blue.” Brother, that’s a bummer.:frowning:
