I could go along with some of those names except sometimes they look good and sometimes they don’t. On the other hand, Elizabeth Taylor never looked good to me, young or old. But again, lots of people did and she had a great life, so more power to her.

Ernest Borgnine is also still with us and still active – born in 1917.

I remember the brouhaha when Eddie Fisher divorced Debbie Reynolds to marry Liz, but it wasn’t as bad as it could have been. People were still sad for Liz because of Mike Todd’s death, so they cut her some slack.

My favorite Liz movies are Giant, Elephant Walk, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (the most beautiful man and woman on the planet in the same movie!) and A Place in the Sun. It’ll be interesting to see which ones TCM puts on its schedule.

TCM is devoting Sunday, April 10th to its Elizabeth Taylor Memorial Program.

I remember the even bigger scandal when Liz dumped Eddie for Richard Burton! The Daily News reports on later developments (referring to an interview in* The Daily Mail*):

In any case, Debbie told the Mail, she was on a cruise with her new husband Harry Karl around 1966 when she learned Liz and Burton were on the same boat. At almost the same moment Liz and Debbie sent notes to each other suggesting they forget all that unpleasantness over Eddie and have lunch.

From that point on, says Debbie, all was forgiven if maybe not entirely forgotten. Reynolds and Taylor stayed in touch and in 2001 starred in a TV movie called “These Old Broads,” which was written by Carrie Fisher, who was one of the two young children with whom Eddie left Debbie when he bolted for Liz.

Maybe he thinks his girlfriend looks great all the time. That’s not such a tough crowd.

I know that La Liz is considered a great beauty by most everyone, but not to everyone. Most people that most find beautiful, I don’t. I don’t bother ever mentioning that though, because I know folks will be all, “What???!! You HAVE to believe this person is beautiful!” I think maybe Siam is just one of those types like me who find beauty in people that others may not tend to agree with.
