RIP, George Pérez

An absolute legend of the comics world has left us. A few months ago, he announced that he has terminal cancer, and thankfully the comics industry has spent the time since then celebrating his life and work.

A very sad passing. Perez was an absolutely brilliant artist. Godspeed, George.

The first superhero comic book I remember following was The New Teen Titans. Always loved the art.

One of the best in the business. With a lot of comic-book artists, there tends to be one generic face, and you need costumes and haircuts to tell them apart. Perez could draw a crowd of characters, and each person would be unique, with a distinctive nose, a distinctive jawline, etc.

Neal Adams last week and now George Perez. Giants who will be missed.

Best comic book artist ever. If a company wanted someone to draw a project that featured thousands of characters, he’s the only one anyone would consider turning to. He will be sorely missed, and deservedly celebrated.

Perez wore his out his wrist doing a JLA/Avengers crossover featuring every single hero who had been a member of either team up to then . He definitely earned his comic-book stripes. RIP!
