RIP Jack Brisco

Former two time NWA World Heavyweight Champion pro wrestler Jack Brisco died during open heart surgery today.

All American, NCAA National Champion at Oklahoma State, Brisco turned pro in 1965, winning numerous regional titles, worked often in Florida, teamed with his brother Gerry, won the NWA Title from Harley Race in Houston, TX in July 1973, dropped it briefly to Baba in Japan in December 1974, before regaining it a few days later, held the belt for another year before dropping it for good to Terry Funk in December 1975.

I didn’t know you that well, but I remember Jerry Brisco and the Brisco name very well as a kid growing up and watching the “Stooges” from the Stone Cold Era…

I only saw them at the end of their career, and never live. By all accounts, the Briscos and the Funks defined tag team wrestling for their day. Take care Jack. Condolences to Gerard and all the Briscos
