I actually worked with these guys once upon a time…
Anyway, apparently he was shot and killed today.

A talented, fun group. Gonna miss ya, Master Jay
Well that just sucks. Damnit…
This is bad. Way too young. Way too talented. Jam Master Jay was truly a living legend. What an enormous loss. RIP
I feel the way I did when Dale Earnhardt died: I’ve never been a huge fan of rap (or NASCAR), but I knew all about Jam Master Jay. I’m genuinely shocked. They were such talented, innovative musicians, and moreover they seemed to be good people.
R.I.P.
Oh no. I’m just now hearing about this. I’m so sad now. I’m an 80’s child. I grew up on DMC.
Yep. Another senseless rapper death.
sigh
RIP, Jason Mizell
My mom knows Run; they attend the same church and they’ve had lunch a few times. She hasn’t been able to reach him yet
This is very sad.
I was another one of those 80’s kids that grew up with Run DMC albums. I still have all of my albums but no turntable:)! I’ve always thought highly of them and particularly respect their contribution to the whole genre of rap music. For several years they were rap music. One other reason I feel they are great people is the continued support of their community, they didn’t sell out and move away, they sold millions, stayed and tried to make things better. Jay leaves behind a wife and three children.
It is a sad day.
Man, how terrible. I still have a ton of DMC stuff, and they’re standards on most of my mix CDs and MP3 discs.
Rest in piece Jay.
