RIP, Joe Cocker

Well shit.

RIP, Joe. What a voice he had.

Too bad he sang out of tune and I had to stand up and walk out on him.

to any mods who don’t know, this a reference to a song he covered, not a threadshit

For the win.

I really dug his music. His duet with John Belushi was priceless.

Rest in Peace.

Aw, one of my most favorite voices in rock. I loved his music and him.

Almost all of his songs take me back to a special time and place in my life.

RIP Joe.

dang.

Another giant who never got elected to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

RIP. Not even all that old. I would have thought he was bit older.

Pretty much says it all. He was never my guy, but man, could he get inside a song and present it his way.

Bugger. That’s sad news.

** RIP** the master of making someone else’s song**[/his ownB]

Saw Joe open for SRV on 7/21/90 at the Gorge Amphitheater. I went to see Stevie but was absolutely blown away by Joe. I have no idea how someone can belt it out like that! Was also blown away by Stevie who was gone a month later. RIP both of you. Still have the t-shirt although it is a holey mess that has shrunk down to doll size.

:frowning:

I  this place.

Sorry he’s gone, however I found he had the bad habit of overcooking his singing, oversouling it if you like, and when he did it, it just didn’t work - and he did it far too often, Janis Joplin was another one who marred her work with over souling it too.

When they just stuck to hitting the song dead on, it was great, not enough of it though.

That was funny as hell! Thanks.

Too bad. Like many others my age (38), my first exposure to his work was probably during the opening credits to every * Wonder Years* episode (his version of “With a Little Help from My Friends” was the theme song).

Lost my virginity during a showing of the documentary Mad Dogs and Englishmen in 1971 at the Denton Rd drive-in. Only missed about one minute of the movie.

Amazing voice.

All you had to do was lend him your ear and he’d try not to sing out of key.
