Aw…Man! RIP Joe.
<Takes hat off>
One of my favorite rock and roll voices ever.
RIP
The two greats together.
Aw, shit. RIP Hizzonor the Mayor (of Crawford, Colorado). I’m not feelin’ alright. I hope he’s inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year.
Here’s the full version:
You could have left it on. He wouldn’t have minded.
What a loss.
Tx, Chefguy, first thing I thought of.
I was lucky enough to get to see him once. He was so drunk that he dropped the mic a couple of times.
They don’t make 'em like that anymore.
Did he go out through the bathroom window?
Bummer. Another one gone.
For added sadness, one of my Facebook friends posted a video of Joe with Mad Dogs & Englishmen doing “The Letter,” and there’s the late Bobby Keys wailing on the tenor sax.
I hope Leon Russell stays with us for a good, long time.
This is a good opportunity to post this, possibly the funniest thing I’ve ever seen on the internet.
But RIP, Joe. You were one of a kind.
Thanks for the show, Joe, July 1969, San Bernardino California. My first ever concert.
What a loss.
Bummer. I was just a little kid in his heyday (late 60s/early 70s). At least a couple of his most famous songs were always on the radio back then. Over the years, I liked him well enough, I suppose, although I never considered myself a “fan” in particular. Anyway, a number of years ago, I saw him live, as an opening act for Tina Turner. That dude BROUGHT THE HOUSE DOWN! He really blew me (and everyone there) away. His singing power, stage presence and talent live was a million times better than ever came through on radio or LPs. Seriously amazing. I was with my daughter, who was about 10 or so at the time. She liked Tina and wanted to go see her. She had no idea who JC was and she was equally blown away and was just loving it.
RIP, Joe!
I saw this in the Death Pool thread too.
We lost one of the good ones.
would that be spasmodically?
Joe Cocker - Just like a Woman at Woodstock.
Actually he was on the list of a few, but his death was not reported there yet.
RIP.
And now I have to change my list…
