RIP Nehemiah Persoff

I’ll always think of him as the U-Boat commander in The Twilight Zone episode ‘Judgement Night’.

What a character actor. He was in so much.

And I still don’t know how to pronounce his name.

Jake Guzik in The Untouchables!

RIP.

I think it was in Tony Curtis’s autobiography where I read the part of Little Bonaparte in Some Like It Hot was originally going to be played by Edward G Robinson. Robinson refused to be in the film, however, because George Raft was in it too. The two men hated each other after doing a picture together and swore never to work together again. Persoff was eventually cast instead.

nee-uh-mai-uh.

I just saw him in an episode of “Mission Impossible” and was amazed to see that he was still alive. My older sister dated his son or nephew or something.

Believe it or not, I was just thinking of him the other day. He was in an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation - the one where Data is kidnapped by an art collector.

I was thinking about him a couple/few weeks ago. I think there was a featurette about him on TCM, and I was like ‘Oh, Nehemiah Persoff! It’s amazing he’s over 100 years old.’
