Nicholas Smith, the actor best known as Mr. Rumbold on “Are You Being Served” passed away. Surprisingly enough, he was the last living original member of the original cast. Who’d have guessed he was only 38 when the show started?
I just commented to someone at work how he was the last surviving cast member, when discussing my Celebrity Death List for 2016.
I knew he was one of the younger cast members, but never realized he was only six months older than Trevor Banister (Mr. Lucas).
He was so much younger than I thought. I loved watching that show. Now I need to see if it’s on anywhere.
Almost all episodes are on YouTube. A lot PBS stations play episodes pretty regularly.
