RIP Peter Falk

Goodnight, Grandpa.

Now I feel old.

Most of his movies are among my favorites, a big part of it was his performance, even in a supporting role.

Damn, he was funny.

Favorite quotes:

“if you wasn’t a women, I’d kick you in the stomache’”

“It’s only half a mustache.”

and the above mentioned 'Serpentine!"

RIP, Mr. Falk.

I remember him as the very memorable Lieutenant Columbo. I’ll have to check out the movies mentioned in this thread.

I think I may have seen The In-Laws. It sounds familiar.

Certainly Wings of Desire, a fantastic film.

I shall pull a gun on my phone and keep martinis (both olives and onions) in my desk for the next week in tribute.

Damn, I’’ miss him.
Columbo was my all-time fave TV show.
What happened to his old filthy raincoat?

“Ooooooookay. Sometimes I’m so smart I scare myself.” Love that movie.

Damn. I just read his memoirs a couple of weeks ago.

One line of his I always think of is from the TV verson of The Sunshine Boys:
“Enter! And Come in!”

Every time there’s a celebrity murder, I can’t help but think, “Columbo would have a confession in three days.”

Yes, even from By God OJ!

He was so amazingly perfect in The In-Laws I knew I’d never bother to watch the remake. RIP.

He was brilliant in Wings of Desire, and also Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter had me nearly wetting myself.

“That can mean only one thing… and I don’t know what that is…”

He was very funny in a walk-on for The Larry Sanders Show. During a break in the interview, he mutters to himself: I’m never coming back on this fucking show again. Shandling turns to him and says “what?” Falk deadpans him and says “I said I’m never coming back on this fucking show again.” At which Rip Torn storms over and has a faux confrontation with what turns out to be a very old friend.

I loved Columbo, of course, and seeing him in Wings of Desire made the movie that much better. But I think I first fell in love with him when I saw him shooting pool in Trials of O’Brien. I was only a very young girl then, but fell for his charm and sophistication.

Classic.

Been Netflix-ing old Colombo for a while now. Loved Falk in his comedy roles, too.

I remember his character had helped plan the Bay of Pigs invasion, and had an autographed photo from JFK in his office inscribed, “At least we tried!” LOL.

Columbo was a big inspiration for me…I knew this day would come (he was in his 80s, every time he was on screen he was smoking, he couldn’t have been in the best health, etc), but it’s still very sad.

He has always been one of my favorites. I was just thinking about all the wonderful parts he’s played while watching Robin and the seven hoods.
You pit your wits with me, little man, and you won’t have your wits to pit with, know what I mean?

Maaaaaaaaaaax!
