This was mentioned in the celebrity death pool thread, but deserves
its own thread here.
One of my all time favorite bands back in the 70s.
Time to go and listen to Crime of the Century and Crisis, what Crisis ? again.

Well that sucks. I know what I’ll be listening to today.
Davies had a rather… um, unique voice but it really worked for this band.
I guess it’s hard not to agree.
I had a TDK Metal Oxide cassette with the Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab releases of both Crime of the Century and Breakfast in America on it.
I wore out that cassette for playing it so often.
I’ve actually been listening to the old Supertramp “Breakfast” album lately. Sad to see that Davies has died. I always thought their music was innovative for its time. I mean, who else would have thought to add klezmer-style music to a rock album? It always makes me smile when the tuba and clarinet chime in.
Sad news.
Supertramp is top three of my favorite bands.
One of my favorite albums. Not even sure why, it just works for me.
The Beatles, with “Girl”? (Though the instrumentation is more Greek than klezmer.)
So sad to hear of his passing, but at 81 I guess he took the long way home, good-bye stranger.
Supertramp was one of those quirky bands from the 70s that really defined an era of acceptance of different music styles to a broad audience. I’ll feel the same when Jeff Lynne passes I suppose.
“Breakfast In America” is an outstanding album.(IMO)
Yeah, the line “Don’t you look at my girlfriend; she’s the only one I’ve got/Not much of a girlfriend; I never seem to get a lot.” always makes me laugh.
I like that line too.
Goodbye stranger it’s been nice
Hope you find your paradise
