RIP Scalia

Yes, biases creep into individual opinions but the opinion of the court requires 5 justices agreeing on something.

So, Scalia had his moments? Sadly, they were moments. Fleeting.

How do the people express their will in a representative democracy?

And the people agree with Voter ID, but it seems that your respect for their opinion vanishes over that issue.

Did you miss the part of all those 5 judges in the stay order about the EPA new rules being selected by Republicans?

There must be a sale on red herrings.

Must be two for the price of one.

But the comment here is that you clearly did not pay any attention, there is not much of a problem with having an ID, the problem is that the demagoguery and hypocrisy of the Republicans comes regarding how hard they make it for poor and minorities to get that ID.

Wouldn’t a liberal hypocrisy smilie save you about 30% on your word count?

LOL!!

The people have expressed approval for Voter ID even after the meanie Republicans did their meanie stuff.

Again, you are only concentrating on what I even would agree, the hypocrisy here is for not looking at how the Republicans are implementing that popular law because there is this thing called the bill of rights and other laws that protect minorities. It has been found already by the courts in Texas to be discriminatory and the courts and legislators will have to make changes to ensure fairness.

Since when does popularity make an injustice acceptable?

Its especially cute how you paint a concern for justice as something childish.

Perhaps because rights trump utilitarian concerns?

I nominate you for the position of SDMB Pettifogger-In-Chief. I think you’ll win handily.

Emeritus.

Your standards change depending on your desired outcome.

And you get to decide what “rights” exist?

Your stretching of the truth is noted, I did point at what happened in Texas in another thread before and to you. Your dumb way to discuss here is to use a straw man because I already noted before also that what the courts did already is a done deal about the fifth rule. But since the other voter rights rules are still there the new voter laws still can and should be reviewed. And the evidence is that indeed several states have leopard lawmakers that can’t change their spots.

If that’s true, then evidence gained through torture should be considered inadmissable because it’s unreliable, or at least a defense attorney should suggest it is unreliable.

Scalia’s stay at the resort was paid for by a litigant with business before the court.

Gigobuster (FXMaster) let me introduce you to Bricker (Gigobuster) RE law (climate change)…….ooops that is not fair to FX, Bricker has a law degree.

What business, specifically, did he have before the court?

I know, he should know better than pretending (twice already) that I did not respond beforehand to his sorry rhetoric.

Also, even here you should notice (with the voter ID issue) that I’m not a single issue poster. FXMastermind was a crank magnet and he had a cornucopia of crazy conspiracy theories.
