We hardly knew ye!
People riding Segways always reminded me of the cavemen in B.C. riding the wheel.
But that’s all I have to say about it. Maybe it’s time to segue to another topic.
Now what is going to happen to all those cities designed around them?
AWW man I always wanted one because i cant drive and don’t have enough balance for a bike…as the report said the barrier was they never became cheap or popular enough for payment plans to happen …
What will become of all the shopping mall rent-a-cops?
You’ll probably always be able to find one on eBay.

Segway’s reputation took a big hit after former owner of the company, Jimi Heselden, rode his over a cliff.
Never fear, the Segway sPod is on the way, eliminating that pesky standing up.
Personally, I’m holding out for a BB-8 tank. Who needs two wheels?
You should check out the OneWheel. It’s almost certainly inspired by BC.
Having lived through the noxious gargantuan overhype when the thing debuted, I can only say,
“BWAH-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!”
I even rode one of the little shitsticks during a tour of Grant Park in Chicago, and was unimpressed with its potential to transform the world. Or even its ability to navigate a pothole.
I saw a person riding a segway once.
Once.
I think part of the problem is that it’s impossible to ride one without looking like a dork.
A guy in our neighborhood owns one. I see him using it to walk his German Shepherd. I guess the Segway does a better job of keeping up with the dog than his legs could.
Indeed. Since I’ve never seen one in real life, when I think of Segways, I think of the people I’ve seen using them on TV and in the movies; most notably, Niles Crane on “Frasier,” and Paul Blart: Mall Cop. Not exactly the coolest of characters who could showcase your product.
I never understood the appeal of an $8,000 segway over a $300 motorized scooter.
I could swear that I saw a Japanese company putting out something that looked exactly like the sPod … maybe 10 years ago?
Wow, here is something even dorkier than the Segway. (Be sure to read the questions.)

I took Segway tours of both Atlanta and New Orleans, and had a great time. Half an hour of training and I was good to go. Even if the original company folds, someone else will probably make something very much like it.
Always struck me as too expensive for them to become commonly used.
My first thought on hearing production was ending was “they’re still making them?”
I guess not anymore…
This news makes me a bit nostalgic for the days of 2000/01 when there was a truly insane level of hype about the Segway ( it was called Ginger/IT then) in some corners of the Internet where I used to lurk occasionally. Many of those people were bitterly disappointed when it turned out be a self-balancing scooter.
